What is 316L Stainless Steel?
316L stainless steel is the low-carbon version of 316, designed for enhanced corrosion resistance and weldability. As an austenitic stainless steel with 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, it offers excellent performance in chloride-rich environments, acidic media, and marine applications. The reduced carbon content (≤0.03%) prevents carbide precipitation during welding, ensuring long-term resistance to intergranular corrosion.
